Dr.
Christian J. Churchill joined the Faculty of the College in 2001 as
Assistant Professor of Sociology. He holds a B.A.
in Sociology and Literature (Summa cum Laude) from Marlboro College
and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brandeis University, where he was a Teaching
Assistant and held a University Fellowship.
Dr.
Churchill’s research interests focus on the impact of bureaucracy
in the modern world, community studies, social class and status, qualitative
research methods, the sociology of literature, secular redemption, social
theory, globalization, work and organizations, mass society, and psychoanalytic
theory.
Dr.
Churchill teaches courses on introductory sociology, the sociology of
family life, ethnic groups in American society, social problems, culture
and technology, propaganda, the social psychology of work and organizations,
and the sociology of emotions.
