Business Students Take On The Fed Challenge

Students from St. Thomas Aquinas College competed in the District II College Fed Challenge on November 3. The experience proved stimulating on both an economic and intellectual level.

“This competition put us in the real world and gave us a chance to talk about real-world things, not just read about them in class,” said Patricia Nertsen, an actuarial science major with minors in business and economics, who participated in the program. “It gave me a better understanding of everything I’ve learned over the past four years.”

STAC STudents take on europe over spring break: London, amsterdam & Brussels
students visit europe on spring break

Our students, accompanied by Professor Christine Cahill, got a first-hand look at the bodies and organizations that direct today’s globalized world during their trip to London, Amsterdam and Brussels. The group saw where things go quiet inside EU headquarters in bustling Brussels. They heard from experts at The Hague’s international courts, where some of humanity’s worst offenders have stood trial. They explored the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam.  They took a guided tour of London that included: Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, and a ride on the London Eye. They also took  a guided tour of the British Library and saw an original Magna Carta. It was an amazing cultural and educational experience, and one the group will never forget!  The students who went included: Arianna Sotos, Eva Cochran , Sean Wilson, Brianna Dean, Jason Dore, Jose Peralta, and Kelly Hernandez.
