“It’s impossible to feel lost or overwhelmed here. Everyone at STAC wants to help and wants you to succeed.”
In a way, Stephen Saulpaugh grew up with St. Thomas Aquinas College. His older brother was an education major here, and Stephen spent a lot of time visiting him on campus as a kid. So when it came time for Stephen to choose a college, he says the choice was easy.
“My first choice was STAC. I always felt very comfortable here,” Stephen says. “I felt like I just naturally gravitated toward it.”
But instead of majoring in “the family business,” (his parents and brother are all educators), Stephen said he wanted to flex his creative muscle instead. As a communications arts major, Stephen is getting hands-on experience in broadcast announcing, TV studio production, and journalism, to name a few. His minor in social media gives him additional experience in new media—from computer art and design to marketing on the Internet.
Upon graduation, Stephen plans to pursue a career in the advertising industry, developing concepts and copy for advertising and marketing campaigns and social media platforms.
When he’s not studying, Stephen plays drums (he used to be in a band called The Cleopatra Club), plays intramural baseball, and works in the college admissions office where he gives tours and does clerical work.
“This is a beautiful place to go to college,” Stephen says. “You have the world at your fingertips.”
