Q: What is Career Services?
A: Career Services is dedicated to providing a variety of programs, workshops, seminars and activities that will make your career planning more exciting and rewarding. Career services empowers and challenges students to grow professionally, academically, and intellectually.
In addition, the Career Services office provides assistance to undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni who seek help in formulating and implementing career plans. Various programs and workshops are offered each semester to assist students who are selecting a major or trying to relate educational experiences to employment opportunities.
Q: Does Career Services “place” students in jobs?
A: Career Services is NOT a Placement Office. Career Services provides students with the necessary tools and resources to facilitate their own successful and rewarding job search. Career Services will also teach students the necessary skills required to be effective in finding a job in their career field of choice.
Q: Is career services just for seniors?
A: Career Services encourages students to begin the career planning process as early as freshmen year. There are many steps and phases involved in planning for your professional career so it is strongly recommended that you begin your career planning during your first year of college.
Q: Is career services just for Business Majors?
A: Career Services offers services and programs for All academic majors; not just Business majors. For a complete listing of programs and special events please refer to the online calendar.
Q: What can students do to maximize their academic and career experiences at St. Thomas Aquinas College?
A: There are many things students can do to maximize their experiences at STAC: Student’s Role:
- SDS – The self-directed search; a computerized career guidance system.
- Personalized career/personal counseling.
- Workshops & programs on career planning.
- Student/alumni mentor network.
