Dr. Meenakshi Gajria, Professor of Education
Ph.D., The Pennsylvania State University
Dr. Gajria’s expertise lies in the area of Learning Disabilities. She has conducted research in the areas of reading comprehension, cognitive strategy instruction, and inclusion for students with learning disabilities. She has published in these areas and presented at national conferences.
Dr. Ernest Piermarini, Associate Professor of Education
Ed.D., Seton Hall University
Dr. Piermarini’s research interest focuses on the role of teacher leaders in public education reform efforts.
Dr. Helene Robbins, Professor of Education
Ph.D., Fordham University
Dr. Robbins’ research interests are in using technology as a tool for educating children in the 21st Century.
Dr. Suzanne Reynolds, Associate Professor of Education
Ed.D., Rutgers University
Dr. Reynolds’ research focuses on how children develop mathematical ideas. She has presented at several state and national level conferences and conducts teacher workshops on effective practices in mathematics.
Dr. Michael Shaw, Professor of Education
Ph.D., Fordham University
Dr. Shaw has published professional articles and presented at national conferences. His research interests include instruction that increases motivation and achievement for struggling readers, and the roles and responsibilities of the reading specialist as a literacy coach who teaches teachers. In 2009, he was appointed by the International Reading Association as their representative to National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). He also had an article published in the New England Journal of Reading “Preparing Reading Specialists to be Literacy Coaches: Vision, Passion, Communication and Collaboration.” The article focuses on the College’s IRA nationally recognized graduate literacy program.
