English 099: Developmental English (3CE)
 

Students in Developmental English practice the basic writing skills necessary for work in credit bearing courses. The course pays particular attention to vocabulary, syntax, paragraph development, and improving critical thinking.

By the end of English 099, students should be able to:

  • start the process of critical analysis of assigned texts
  • understand that written language has rules and that correctness matters
  • write a coherent essay of approximately 3 pages
