NY- September 13, 2006)- Samira A. Allen (Nyack,
NY), Assistant Director of Annual Giving and Alumni
Affairs, has been named as one of the Journal
News and REDC's Forty Under Forty honorees and
will be honored at a reception on September 27.
Each year forty individuals under the age of 40
who live and work in Rockland and whose accomplishments
and commitment to the community identify them
as the individuals to watch in the future of Rockland
County are honored.
"Samira is a dedicated employee and is a
vital part of the College's Institutional Advancement
Team. Her continual efforts in the areas of alumni
and development and her community involvement
make her a well-deserving recipient of the Forty
Under Forty honor. We are extremely proud of her,"
said Kevin P. Duignan, Vice President for Institutional
Advancement.
Ms. Allen graduated in May 2002 from Ramapo College
of New Jersey with a BA in English/Literature
and is currently working toward a Masters in Public
Administration at Long Island University.
Ms. Allen coordinates a variety of alumni activities
for the College including two alumni trips to
Broadway, several networking events and an alumni
and friends barbeque each year. She also organizes
fund raising programs and events that support
the College's annual giving program involving
its alumni.
From
2002 until her appointment with the College Ms.
Allen was an Administrative/Fiscal Coordinator
for Child Care Resources of Rockland Inc., where
she was responsible for the employee and client
relations as well as several aspects of human
resource functions and special events. In 2004,
she joined Leadership Rockland, Inc. as a Program
Administrator and has since served in that capacity.
MORE ABOUT ST. THOMAS
St. Thomas has expanded its offerings to include
a Master of Science in Education, a Post Masters
Certificate program in Education, a Master of
Science in Teaching, a Master of Business Administration
program, a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science
and Bachelor of Science in Education, and an Associate
of Arts and an Associate of Science degree, the
latter two offered at the West Point Military
Academy. In addition, St. Thomas is the host campus
for a Master of Science in Social Work program
offered by New York University.
The
College's 2,000 full and part time undergraduate
students major in one of 31 programs offered in
five division areas: The Humanities; Business
Administration; Social Sciences; Natural Sciences
& Mathematics; and Teacher Education. The
College offers a full scholarship Honors Program
which provides students with a Summer Study experience
at Oxford University in England. In addition,
there are several study abroad opportunities and
strategic alliances designed to offer expanded
opportunities for students. For example, students
can major in mathematics at St. Thomas for three
years and then enter an engineering program at
either George Washington University or Manhattan
College as part of a dual degree program.
St.
Thomas offers study abroad opportunities in Ireland,
Italy, Hungary, Nova Scotia, Brazil and Japan.
The College currently includes 21 buildings. The
21st building, a new dorm in Aquinas Village,
houses 64 students and opened in 2005.
