APPLIED MATHEMATICS
Students who major in applied mathematics do exactly that; apply their knowledge in math, combined with statistics and physics, to solve problems of any nature. The focus of the major lies in modern applied mathematics, discrete mathematics, and computational mathematics.
Applied Mathematics at STAC
Our students take a variety of courses in the Applied Mathematics major such as Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Operations Research and Numerical Analysis. Students learn how to take the abstract concepts learned in math classes and use them to solve various problems from actual real-life occurrences. They are prepared to use mathematical formulas and apply them to the business arena when it comes to predicting the behavior of our financial market or explaining the logistics behind the risk factors of insuring a company. Students learn to how to use their mathematical expertise to make informed and efficient decisions, a valuable asset to any corporation.
Careers
