Childhood Education Grades 1-6: Inclusive Elementary Education Program
General Requirements
All candidates in the initial baccalaureate level teacher education programs complete the general education requirements in the liberal arts and sciences. This core set of courses, along with a liberal arts concentration or major, gives candidates a knowledge base to teach to the Common Core Standards. The general education requirements include study in four areas:

1 Candidates in the teacher education programs are exempt from these requirements. Competencies in communication and information retrieval are developed in all education courses.
2 These courses are only required for candidates in the teacher education programs. They are not part of the College-wide general education requirements.
3 These requirements must be selected from a list of courses approved by the School of Education.

Pedagogy Requirements
Candidates in the Inclusive Childhood Education Program conduct field experiences in all courses to complement instruction and complete a pedagogy core in three areas:
