Understanding Your Notification Of Aid:
Based on your Admissions application and the FAFSA application you completed, the College is able to provide you with a Notification of Aid, which you will receive directly from the financial aid office at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
1. You must circle the items you want to accept, sign the form, and return it to the financial aid office in order to begin the process of accepting all forms of aid. If the form is not returned, these items will not be put onto your account.
a. federal or state aid that is being offered to you from the government;
b. college merit, academic, or need based awards;
c. college athletic awards – scholarships for your athletic achievement if a coach assigned an amount to you.
d. federal student loans and federal parent loans.
Items “a, b, and c, are not items you pay for – they are provided to you with no obligation to pay back unless they specifically state some type of repayment requirement or they were obtained with false information.
If you see a federal PELL, SEOG, or NYS TAP award on your NOA, then it has been determined that you are eligible for those based on the results of your FAFSA and your NYS TAP Application. Federal and NYS aid is estimated pending state and federal budgets.
If you have not completed a NYS TAP Application, you must do so. Even if you see an estimated award on your account, if you have not completed the application it will not appear as a deduction on your invoice from the business office.
The College may make changes to the NOA even after it is signed. If you receive a new one, you must sign that one and return it to the college.
