In addition to institutional and government assistance, various private organizations, companies and foundations provide support for funding a college education. The Financial Aid Office maintains a listing of some of these external sources of aid. Students and their families also are urged to explore funding from organizations in their local community.  If you have any questions regarding any of these scholarships, foundations or grants, you can contact the Student Financial Aid Office at 845-398-4097.

The following is a list of available scholarship opportunities. Please refer to the scholarship’s website for all deadlines and application requirements.

Abbott & Fenner Scholarships
The A & F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution, between the ages of 16 and 30. To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on one of the two topics below. Your submissions must be sent by email to
TOPICS: Every generation faces new challenges and new problems. What do you think is the biggest difference between your generation and older generations? How do you think these differences will affect the future of our country and/or your career choice?

AES Engineers
Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. A $500 scholarship is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. Applicants are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. To apply, students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer at

American Association of University Women Barbara D. Myneder Memorial Scholarship
The Rockland County branch of the American Association of University Women is announcing their bi-annual Barbara D. Myneder Scholarship for a woman returning to continue her education toward an undergraduate degree. AAUW is a nationwide association of women and men whose mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. 

The Rockland County branch, founded in 1962, awards the scholarship based on the following eligibility criteria: A woman at least 21 years of age; a Rockland County resident; a student returning to school as an undergraduate; matriculated in a degree granting program at an accredited college/university at the time of receipt of the award; must demonstrate financial need as confirmed by the college/university. Click here for application

Anne Ford Scholarship
Sponsored by the National Center for Learning Disabilities, the Anne Ford Scholarship is a $10,000 award given to a high school senior with an identified learning disability (LD) who is pursuing an undergraduate degree.

Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship
We help athletes find opportunities to play college sports and get an athletic scholarship. Our free online athlete profiles are used by over 95% of college coaches to identify and evaluate potential recruits. These profiles give recruits the opportunity to get discovered by college coaches and proactively contact the colleges of their choice. Write a 400-500 word essay describing how the lessons you have learned through playing sports have positively impacted you as you pursue your college education. Essay due May 1, 2014 by 12:00pm. Bridgat Scholarships Program 2014
The Scholarships are merit-based and four individuals will be designated each year and awarded a one-time scholarship of up to US$6,500. The major selection criteria include; academic performance and demonstrated leadership in cross cultural activities. The Bounce Energy "BE More" Scholarship
Bounce Energy is offering the Bounce Energy "BE More" $2,500 Scholarship to 3 qualified students. The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to 3 students from the states that we serve - Texas, Pennsylvania, and New York. Castle Ink's Green Scholarship
This $2500 scholarship is for students showing a commitment to recycling and the environment. If you support efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle, then you qualify for this scholarship from Castle Ink. Students must be a United States citizen or permanent resident with a minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average. For more information visit:

Davies-Jackson Scholarship for Graduating Seniors
The Davies-Jackson Scholarship presents a unique opportunity for students who are among the first in their families to graduate college, to participate in a course of study at St. John’s College at the University of Cambridge. Graduating seniors may apply for either the one-year M.Phil degree program or as an Affiliated Student for the two-year B.A. degree program.  This full scholarship is funded by an anonymous donor who wishes to provide the same opportunities at St. John’s that he was afforded as a young man. The list of institutions from which students are eligible to apply has recently been expanded and now includes nearly 400 CIC member institutions. The Drive to Learn Scholarship

Whether or not you noticed it at the time, they probably helped you learn something about yourself, others, or life in general. Share your experiences with us and take advantage of our new scholarship opportunity! Eve’s Addiction Scholarship
The Eve's Addiction Scholarship is open to high school seniors and any student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Fall 2013 or Spring 2014 at any accredited U.S. college or university. Future Counselors of America Scholarship
Annual scholarship awards $1,000 to U.S. undergraduates and graduates majoring in Psychology who seek a career in relationship counseling or a related field. Applicants will be judged based on academic achievement (minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA) and a minimum 500- to maximum 900-word essay entitled "The Psychology of Online Dating." The essay should address the psychological issues and challenges facing singles given the growing popularity of online dating, and how relationship professionals can help online daters navigate these challenges. G.I.R.L. Scholarship
Sony Online Entertainment is now accepting applications for a scholarship that aims to encourage women to explore the field of videogame production and design. The G.I.R.L. Scholarship will grant up to $10,000 toward a single student’s tuition and education expenses and the option of participating in a 10-week internship with SOE. Global English Editing
We are offering an annual scholarship of $1500 to the leading student that outlines the contribution they intend to make to American society after graduation. The ICBC Scholarship

Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship,
Sponsored by the New York State Lottery, this is a $5,000 scholarship paid over four years, at $1,250 per year.  One student from every participating public and private high school in New York State is awarded scholarship.  Student must plan to attend New York State-accredited college, university, trade school, or community college; should have at least B average based on seven semesters of high school. The Mass Mutual Financial Group Scholarship Program
$150,000 in Scholarships to Multicultural College Students Across the Country for the 2013-2014 school year for high-achieving college students of African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic descent interested in pursuing careers in the insurance and financial services industry. Eligible students of all majors will be considered who are entering their sophomore junior, senior, or 5th-year senior year in pursuit of an undergraduate degree at an accredited U.S. college or university and are interested in pursuing a career in the insurance and financial services industry. National Italian American Foundation Scholarship Program
The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) has an education budget of $1,000,000. The NIAF will award scholarships and grants to outstanding students.  The awards will be made on the basis of academic merit and divided between two groups of students. Scholarship awards range from $2,000-$12,000.
Category I: Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. Area of study: open.

New York State (NYS) Math & Science Teaching Incentive Scholarships
New York State (NYS) Math & Science Teaching Incentive Scholarships are offered to encourage students to pursue careers as secondary math and science teachers (grades 7-12). This program provides awards to students attending school at the undergraduate and/or graduate degree level in exchange for five years of full-time employment as secondary education math or science teachers.

Print Detective

New York State Transfer and Articulation Association
The New York State Transfer & Articulation Association is an organization dedicated to establishing a state-wide academic forum and support group for transfer issues. The Annual NYSTAA Scholarship is a monetary award given to four (4) students graduating with Associates degrees from member two-year colleges and transferring to member four-year institutions, both in New York State. For more information visit:

PepsiCo / Hispanic College Fund Scholarships
PepsiCo is partnering with the Hispanic College Fund to promote higher education among Hispanic students. PepsiCo is offering to assist undergraduate and graduate studies, including five scholarships worth $4,000 each and 25 scholarships worth $500 each. The Pocketbook –Zookal Scholarship for Student Entrepreneurs
The scholarship is worth $1,000 cash from Pocketbook to spend on whatever university life requires and 4 free textbooks worth up to $1,000 from Zookal, for a total value of $2,000. RMHC National Scholarship Programs
Sponsored by Ronald McDonald House Charities. Scholarships are for students in the United States living in areas where there are participating local Chapters. Students may only apply for one of the four scholarships available.

Scott C. Gottlieb and Scott C. Gottlieb & Associates
These scholarships are open to all undergraduates living and going to school in the United States or DC. Safe Driver Scholarship
Participate in one of the Safe Driver Programs listed on our webpage for approval of other qualifying safe driver programs. Create a form of social awareness that inspires other students to focus on safe driving. This can be a video, artwork, essay or anything that would engage other students to focus on safe driving. Once you are completed with steps 1 and 2, please proceed to filling out the application in our contact form at the bottom of the scholarship page. Submit a link to your video, artwork, essay or creative element of your choice in the final step of the application form. The qualifying students should be current college student or anyone planning on attending college (or another form of higher education) in the upcoming school year. Student must have a valid drivers license.

Society for Human Resource Management Scholarship
The Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (MHV SHRM) has established a scholarship program to help fund the education of local college students with a sincere interest in the field of Human Resources. SOF (Seeds of the Future)
Undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need may apply. Applicants must file FAFSA each year. All applicants must have a minimum 2.7 GPA, and must be enrolled in program leading to applicant's desired degree, or a High School Senior planning to enter college. The Vegetarian Resource Group College Scholarships
Award for graduating high school students who have promoted vegetarianism or veganism in their schools or communities. Students will be judged on having shown compassion, courage and a strong commitment to promoting a peaceful world through a vegetarian or vegan diet/lifestyle.

United Negro College Fund Scholarships
Scholarships and faculty development grants administered by the UNCF are intended to facilitate access to UNCF member institutions and to strengthen the quality of education that these colleges and universities offer.  Digicert, Inc Internet Security Scholarship

 Theodore Gordon Flyfishers, Inc. Founders Fund Scholarship

We designed a need-based scholarship for everybody who’s committed to achieving a college degree. This way, we want to reward students for having goals and dreams and therefore looking to better themselves. Every US student (high school student, undergraduate students, master degree students or adult learners) and 16 years of age or older is encouraged to apply for our scholarships.  The National CCAA Scholarship
