If you are interested
in a career in business or in education, you can make yourself even more
employable by staying on at St. Thomas Aquinas College to earn your master's
degree. We have Graduate Programs in Education (MSEd) and Business (MBA)
The point
is, St. Thomas Aquinas College can help you prepare for the career you
want. But what does studying the liberal arts and sciences have to do
with preparing for a successful career? The answer to that question requires
a little arithmetic.
THINK
AHEAD - Imagine that you finish college in 2005 at the age of 21. Now
think far into the future to the time of your retirement, at the age of
(gasp!) 65. You have just imagined a working career for yourself that
has lasted a long while -- until the year 2049, to be exact. How can you
prepare yourself to compete in the world of the 21st century? Even before
you reach the midpoint of your career, much of today's state-of-the-art
science and technology is going to be old news. What can you learn at
college that won't be out of date a few years down the road?
The smart
plan involves using your college years to develop your thinking and communication
skills, dip into humanity's accumulated wisdom, deepen your understanding
of human nature, and learn how to learn.
NOW YOU
KNOW - Our argument for studying the liberal arts and sciences --- that
is, the humanities, the natural sciences and mathematics, and the social
sciences. Even fifty years from now, those are the basics that people
will have to know something about to be considered well-educated and to
keep up with an evolving body of knowledge.
When you leave St.
Thomas Aquinas College, we want you to be prepared to deal with the
change and
continue to learn while the world of the future transforms itself around
you. Even if you opt for early retirement in 2030
