Transfer Admissions

As a student considering transferring, we will set aside time just for you to help you take the next step.  We’ll set an appointment for you to meet with a transfer counselor who will evaluate your credentials, discuss your plans, provide you with a tour, and a visit with a faculty member.
Contact the transfer coordinator, Nina Capitelli at 845-398-4101 or e-mail ncaptiel@stac.edu, for a transfer appointment.
Transfer students are admitted to the College in both September and January, and while there is no deadline, applications should be submitted as early as possible.  There is a $30 application fee but if students choose to apply online the fee is only $15.

Transfer Application Requirements:

  • Completed application
  • Official Transcript(s) from ALL post-secondary institutions you have attended or are attending, sent by the issuing institution directly to the Admissions office (unofficial transcripts are acceptable for initial review)
  • All courses in progress
  • If you have completed less than 30 college credits, an official transcript sent directly from your high school with graduation date posted; or a copy of GED report
  • Official SAT 1 and/or ACT scores if high school graduation date is less than one year ago

Once all the application information is received the transcripts will be evaluated and the student will be sent a decision notice along with a preliminary listing of all remaining course requirements for the degree.

Students who have attended a two-year college may transfer up to 70 credits and must complete at least 50 credits at St. Thomas.  Credits in appropriate courses are transferable if a grade of “C-“ or better was earned. Credits for appropriate courses in which a grade of “D” was earned may be transferable if the courses were taken to satisfy AA or AS degree requirements. Please note this excludes education courses, in which case a grade of “C-“ or better must be earned. Acceptable courses from four year colleges may be transferred when at least a “C-“ grade is earned.  Up to 90 credits may be transferred from four year institutions and at least 30 credits must be taken at St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Membership

Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College. Phi Theta Kappa's mission is two-fold: 1) recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and (2) provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.

At St. Thomas Aquinas College we have earmarked a scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa members. PTK members who meet admissions criteria, have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA, and provide official documentation of PTK membership are considered for the scholarship at the time of acceptance

Transfer Scholarships

At St. Thomas Aquinas College we reward excellence and students who transfer to us from a community college or four year institution can receive up to a $6,000 annual transfer scholarship.  Show us your transcript and we just might show you a $2,000, $4,000 or $6,000 annually renewable transfer scholarship.
