First impressions are important and can set the tone for much of what follows.  It is important to develop good communication with the new employee from the start.  The more an employee knows about the work environment, the more comfortable he/she will feel in the new position. Likewise, the new employee will be better able to adapt to the College and its expectations, and realize his/her full potential.

Orienting new employees may take time and effort, but it is an important investment for the office/school, the new employee and the College.  It will facilitate the employee making a smooth transition into the College’s workforce. Hopefully, it will also inspire the new employee to have a positive attitude toward the College, increase employee retention, and provide a solid framework in which each employee can embrace and enhance College goals.
