Title
Program Objectives

The goal of the Computer Science Program is to prepare students for successful careers and for graduate study in computer science. The five specific program objectives along with the corresponding primary outcome, are as follows:

  • to provide both theoretical and applied Discipline Knowledge in the core areas of Computer Science;
    • Graduates will be able to apply and continuously acquire knowledge, both theoretical and applied, related to the core areas of Computer Science.
  • to provide Computational Thinking experiences in solving diverse and unique problems in software design and development;
    • Graduates will be able to apply thought processes involved in formulating problems and their solutions so that the solutions are represented in a form that can effectively be carried out by a computing device.
  • to provide Creative Thinking experiences in solving diverse and unique problems in software design and development;
    • Graduates will demonstrate the ability to generate original ideas and apply information in novel and effective ways.
  • demonstrate Integrity;
    • Graduates will understand how to approach the social effects of computing ethically and responsibly, and be committed to doing so.
  • demonstrate Oral and Written Communication;
    • Graduates will have the ability to develop, interpret, and express ideas related to Computer Science issues and concerns effectively through written and oral communication.
