Carol Grieff Lagstein studied art at the California College of Art and received a BFA. She then studied art therapy at Pratt Institute receiving an MPS and later studied social work at Columbia University to receive an MSW. Carol worked at the Clarkstown Central School District as a Student Assistance Counselor for 24 years. She has had a private psychotherapy practice for many years. As Director of the Art Therapy program for 25 years, she has taught all of the art therapy courses offered. Carol loves to share her enthusiasm for art therapy by teaching the Introduction to Art Therapy class to all new majors and other students. She teaches the capstone course, Art Therapy Seminar, to be assured that students are launched into their futures with skills and confidence. She is currently working with colleagues to publish recommended SLOs for all undergraduate art therapy programs. In her spare time she paints, and shows her work in galleries. She also enjoys hiking, swimming, tennis and pickle ball.
