Alyssa Chelak with Jim Cramer, the host of the popular CNBC show “Mad Money.” Alyssa has been interning at CNBC all semester under alumna, Mary Duffy (V.P. Talent Development and Sr. Exceutive Producer at CNBC). This paid internship has given Alyssa vast experience, connections and an impressive resume. Congrats Alyssa!!


4th Annual Study Beyond Connection Reception-BIG SUCCESS!!!

                                           

 

 

The Office of Experiential Learning and the School of Business hosted its fourth annual "STUDY BEYOND CONNECTION RECEPTION" on OCTOBER 25, 2018. At our reception we had 4 students speak about their Internships and Experiences within their fields of interest. They shared their Hows, Wheres, Whys and Whats about their opportunities. Attending this event gave students a wonderful chance to network with peers within their majors, learn more about what's to come and what is offered, and to support the School of Business. Students enjoyed snacks, networked and earned 10 points toward their Experiential Learning requirements!

Summer Internship Successes!

 

Students in the School of Business at St. Thomas Aquinas College continue to have impressive and successful Internship experiences over the Summer months. Students majoring in Finance, Marketing, Sports Management, Human Resources and more, "studied beyond" our classroom walls in both paid and academic opportunities. Banking institutions, corporations, sporting arenas and various companies hosted our students so that they could build their resumes, network in their desired fields and gain invaluable experience in their potential careers. Below, Donald Hazelton poses with a group of student interns from various institutions at Sterling Bank in Long Island, NY. Alexa Farese made quite an impression this Summer interning at the major brand and nationwide company, FLOMO/Nygala Corporation in Moonachie, NJ.  http://www.flomousa.com/.  General Manager of Operations, Tina Thomson, made some wonderful remarks about Alexa. "Alexa Farese was great! She learned a lot and not only about the work here - more importantly she shared that she has learned life lessons. Alexa did a fabulous presentation of her work to the whole board and several colleagues the day she was leaving, and I was handed a heart-warming thank you card for the special lessons learnt. Connection and Cocktail Reception

Students heard real-world experiences from STAC Young Professional Alumni on life after College. The panel discussed topics such as focusing on leveraging relationships for best results, the interview process, salary expectations and finances.

Students gathered in our Library to hear from our eclectic and knowledgeable panel as they shared their experiences in the Non-Profit world. Hosted by Sr. Peggy Scarano, the Career Development Office and our School of Business.

Harper Collins Book Publishing trip to NYC

Students across majors attended an information session with various members of the Harper Collins Publishing team. Internships, job opportunities and tips on how to navigate the process were shared. Harper Collins treated our students to brand new books at the end of the day!

What a turn out!!! Mr. Robert Good, a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas College with both his BS and MBA was kind enough to come back on campus and speak to a room packed with our students. He shared how he got to where he is, what exactly his role is at Goldmans and gave amazing advice throughout the presentation. Students asked many thoughtful and intelligent questions about his career path and his current position. Our first Annual Alumni Connection Event was a hit!   Thank you to Mr. Good for his time and efforts on making this program a success!

 


Non-Profit Panel

March 22, 2017
4pm to 5pm in the Lougheed Library
Students listened and learned from professionals working in the Non-Profit Community. Namely, Diana Hess, Chief Communications and Development Officer at Jawanio, young alumn, Matthew Dybus '15 who is now working at Cathedral High school in Queens, NY, as the Associate Development Director and Hailey Robertson who is a current student Interning at Penguin Plunge in the county. Our panel shared their experiences in these unique and rewarding types of careers to a large number of students in the Lougheed Library. Students asked questions, met with our panel, earned 10 points toward their Experiential Learning requirement and ATE PIZZA!! It was an overall success. Thank you to Sr. Peggy Scarano, current Board Member and Development expert for monitoring!

 

STUDY BEYOND CONNECTION RECEPTION - SUCCESS!!

On Thursday 10/20/16 four students in the School of Business were invited to present their Co-Op and Intern experiences to their fellow Business students at our 2nd annual Reception Connection. Our Interns did an amazing job of explaining their processes of obtaining their opportunities, shared in detail what their experiences entailed and what the take-aways were from "Studying Beyond".
