When you graduate with a STAC degree in adolescence education, you can obtain certification as a classroom teacher (grades 7-12) in any state in the country. Our adolescence education programs require that you choose a major in one of the following arts and sciences disciplines:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- English
- Mathematics
- Social Sciences
- Spanish
Your core education courses will focus on:
- The nature of child development and factors that influence motivation and learning
- Classroom organization and management
- Evidence-based instructional methods that promote problem solving and critical thinking
- Use of assessment data to adjust instruction to promote student learning
- Content-specific methods to teach literacy, math, social studies, and science taught by content specialists
- Methods for collaboration with parents, colleagues, and the community
- Use of self evaluation for professional growth
