“My transition from being a student to becoming a successful educator was seamless thanks to STAC’s incredible education program.”
A 2015 STAC graduate, Nick Piampiano was never one to settle for “good enough.”
In addition to a full slate of honors courses, Nick served as a STAC orientation leader for three years and started and played in the college’s men’s volleyball club, which is going strong to this day. He also worked for STAC PRIME, a group of high-performing student leaders who organize and run major college activities, for two years.
In addition, Nick took advantage of the honors program’s summer trip to the University of Oxford in England, where he studied at its famed Merton College.
“STAC provides an in-depth learning experience and prepares you to be successful in an array of environments,” Nick says.
These days, Nick is an educator at Eastern Suffolk BOCES in its Bellport Academic Center, which provides instruction and support for Long Island school districts. There, he teaches 9th and 10th grade algebra, geometry, computer science and reading and writing.
He says STAC prepared him well for his career in education.
“The education program is run by a dynamic group of professors whose passion for the field is on display every single day,” Nick says. “I graduated from STAC with confidence that I was well on my way to becoming a professional educator.”
