Summer Literacy and Special Education Programs for Children

Seven elementary school children outside on grass near Costello Hall throwing their paper airplanes

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Reading program provides assistance to elementary and middle school children who are having difficulty learning reading and writing skills. This summer, we hope to meet in person. If we are not able to meet in-person, we will run an on-line program.  Students with and without IEPs are taught in an inclusive environment. Teachers from our MSEd programs work with children both individually and in small groups. An instructional plan is developed and implemented for each child based on the assessment of academic needs. The focus of the program is on the development of reading and writing skills. All teachers are certified and currently enrolled in the St. Thomas Aquinas College Graduate Program in either Literacy/Reading or Special Education. Members of the graduate education faculty supervise teachers.

Our Summer 2022 program was a success, and we look forward to hosting our program in the summer of 2023!
