STAC Recognized A College of Distinction in 20-Year Anniversary Cohort

College resource highlights the use of high-impact practices and experiential learning in preparing students for future careers.

St. Thomas Aquinas College’s professional programming receives national endorsement for real-world preparation. Founded in 2000, Colleges of Distinction has advocated for schools whose undergraduate experiences are grounded in a philosophy of well-rounded, individualized engagement. The past 20 years have seen the job market and society at large change exponentially, making it even more necessary for graduates to enter the workforce with adaptability and sharp critical thinking skills. Such qualities are best developed through the very kinds of hands-on experiences offered every day at St. Thomas Aquinas College.

STAC has received special recognition for its high-impact approach in business, education, and career development. President, Kenneth Daly notes, “We are delighted to be recognized as a College of Distinction. This is a direct reflection of the work of our dedicated team of faculty — inside and outside of the classroom — and all of our employees. Most of all, this special recognition reflects the preparedness of our students for the real-world challenges they face. At St. Thomas Aquinas College, we pride ourselves in our commitment to providing our students with a top-quality academic experience, enhanced by our focus on community service and experiential learning.”

These accolades stem from a need for college curricula that is comprehensive not only in course material but also in practical and soft-skills development. STAC has met these needs with a blend of liberal arts education, program-specific training, and abundant opportunities for real-world application.

“We complete a thorough review of the programs before granting the honors,” said Tyson Schritter, Chief Operating Officer for Colleges of Distinction. “We’re looking for qualities such as accreditation, breadth of program, advising and mentoring, integration of career services, and successful outcomes for students. It’s wonderful to see how St. Thomas Aquinas College really exemplifies these qualities.”

STAC’s School of Business programs in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality Management, Management, Marketing, Sport Management, and an array of minor specializations, keep STAC’s future leaders adaptable as they grow alongside their industry.
