Sport Administration Concentration Added to MBA Program Lineup

St. Thomas Aquinas College’s School of Business is proud to introduce a new Sport Administration concentration for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, announced Professor Michael Murphy, dean of the School of Business.

The MBA concentration in Sport Administration is designed for students who have a passion for sports and are looking for a strong business foundation which can lead to careers as athletic directors, recreation center managers, revenue managers, facility directors, or marketers of sports teams, sporting events, or sports equipment, to name just a handful of career opportunities.

"Our new program is intended to provide opportunities for students who want to prepare for leadership positions in an expanding multi-billion dollar market," says Dean Murphy.

Beginning with a core business background ranging from management, leadership, economics, accounting, and marketing, the Sport Administration concentration includes specialized classes to prepare students for the sports industry.  The program will examine the role of public relations, mass media and social media in sports communications.  In addition, it will provide a thorough understanding of the ethical issues and social responsibility in sport, while offering courses in the financial management of sport organizations as well as the legal concerns confronting the industry.  The concentration will also examine the purpose and practice of sports governance.
