LEAD the Student Leadership Series (SLS) is a semester long leadership initiative designed to enhance and develop student leadership skills. LEAD is offered in both the Fall and Spring semesters with content divided to appeal to both Emerging (Freshman and Sophomore) and Higher (Junior and Senior) leaders. Graduates of the Student Leadership Series are recognized at the annual Student Leadership Awards.
LEAD is offered in three versions
Lvl 1 for Emerging Leaders (Freshmen)
Lvl 2 for Student Leaders (Sophomores & Juniors)
Lvl 3 for Transitioning Leaders (Juniors & Seniors)
Lvl 1 Offered in the Spring Semester
LEAD Lvl 1 held during the Spring semester and is targeted towards emerging and rising student leadership in the freshmen class. Second semester freshmen students are recruited based on the recommendations of faculty, staff, administrators, and current student leadership.
Lvl 2 Offered in the Fall Semester
LEAD Lvl 2 is held during the Fall semester and is targeted towards sophomore & junior leadership for student leaders in established roles (i.e. Residential Assistants, Orientation Leaders, PRIME, Career Ambassadors, Admissions Ambassadors, Student Government, Mentors, Club Presidents etc...) The focus of Lvl 2 is to further train and refine the leadership practices of current student leaders.
Lvl 3 Offered in the Spring Semester
LEAD Lvl 3 is held during the Spring semester and is targeted towards junior & senior leadership for student leaders in transition (i.e. out of their roles as student leaders and into their roles as professionals or graduate students). The focus of Lvl 3 is to prepare students to properly transition what they've learned as leaders to the next cohort of students as well as prepare them to take on future roles at the commencement of their careers.
